For the Diva Challenge this week, Laura Harms asked for representations of the place we live. Gumbo, the swamp and sugar cane all come to mind for my home, south Louisiana. This made my tile pretty easy to accomplish. I also think of the crazy culture down here – maybe it’s the humidity (we blame everything on the humidity.) Take a look at www.spicycajun.com for some more fun stuff about life down here and a few great jokes too.
I have also decided to share my gumbo inspired tangle: Okra. Bon Apetit, y’all!

I love your tile! I’m afraid I don’t love okra, but I do like your okra tangle. A lot!

I love your tile. And I love your list of “facts” about Louisiana, pronounced I think Looziana. I also love gumbo. And I love fried okra. However, I live in Washington state; go figure! Well, my mom was born in Oklahoma and I spent my first nine years there, lol.

Oh thanks for sharing….not Louisiana… but Arkansas and Missouri introduced me to Okra…..and how I love it! Not exactly gumbo style…. though my mom made a great sloppy joe with gumbo in the recipe…. but I love it fried with cornmeal. I love everything about it but the itch when you pick it! Thanks for sharing the pattern…it looks just like it!

Oh by the way….I feel like I have been there at least for a moment after you gave us a list. How fun is that…..spiders, snakes, bugs……but I bet you find you do alright anyway!

I can’t eat it fried, but I love it smothered with chicken, shrimp, sausage and tomatoes – and in gumbo of course 🙂
